Brookfield Properties’ 2023 World Earth Day campaign inspired tenants and employees to take action for a sustainable future
The theme for the 2023 Earth Day was ‘Invest in our Planet’. The global effort seeks to engage the masses, governments, institutions and businesses to accelerate the transition to an equitable green economy. Around 1 billion people in 192 countries celebrate the day, to safeguard the planet.
As is the case every year, Brookfield Properties participated in the Earth Day celebrations with a set of unique pan-India initiatives. The campaign sought to address the impact of climate crisis and encourage behavioral change.
We organized a Ploggers’ Drive for our employees and tenants across eight campuses in four cities. Participants jogged and picked up litter in Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Social influencers such as Ripu Daman (the founder of Litter Free India), Rashmi Singh (the founder of Mumbai Ploggers), and G Nagaraj aka Plog Raj (the founder of The Indian Ploggers Army) led th activity in each city. A total of 450+kg of waste was collected from the streets.

Another initiative was Picnic by the Pond, a clean up drive held around water bodies. It involved cleaning up a pond, planting saplings around it, and initiating efforts to restore degraded land, to promote soil and moisture conservation. The activity was conducted at Kasan Pond in Manesar, Powai Lake in Mumbai and Madiwala Lake in Bengaluru.
