Last Christmas, Candor brought a smile on the faces of underprivileged children by organising a ‘collection and distribution drive’ for Mobile Creches.
Christmas is one of the most significant festivals in India. It is an occasion when everyone indulges in happiness and joy with their loved ones by exchanging gifts and attending parties and events. But not every section of society is privileged enough to enjoy the same. Last Christmas, Candor TechSpace helped employees working in its campuses live up to the true spirit of this festival by spreading happiness among underprivileged children and celebrating the special occasion with them.
Candor achieved this by launching an employee volunteering programme (EVP) in association with Mobile Creches, which operates day-care centres for children of migrant workers who are employed at construction sites in Delhi (NCR). Under this programme, a ‘collection and distribution drive’ was conducted for the benefit of underprivileged children residing at a crèche run and managed by Mobile Creches and supported by Candor TechSpace.
A wish list for these children was shared with employees working at Candor’s campuses. The list featured everything from cricket bats and balls, dolls, building blocks, toy cars and board games to stationery, colouring books and winter clothing essentials like caps, socks, gloves and sweaters. Employees were encouraged to contribute any of the items mentioned in the list and in any numbers convenient to them by 25th December 2018. The collected items were to be distributed to the children during a visit to the crèche on 27th December.
Candor received nominations from employees who were eager to bring happiness into the lives of underprivileged children. In the days that followed, the drive managed to collect a good number of items. When the distribution day arrived, it was a lovely sight to see the smiles on the faces of the children as they received their gifts. Even bigger were the smiles on the faces of the attending employees, as they got to play Santa for a day last Christmas! More than 55 children at Mobile Creches have benefited from this initiative.
