At the Mahalaya celebrations in Candor’s Kolkata campus, employees got to experience the vibrant decor of the venue, the fabulous entertainment on offer and the overall fun vibes.
Mahalaya marks the beginning of the much-awaited Durga Puja festival every year. Celebrated at the end of Pitri Paksha, a period when Hindus pay homage to their deceased ancestors, Mahalaya is considered auspicious because Goddess Durga is believed to have descended on Earth on this day. Little wonder that the day is celebrated with much zeal and fervour.
The Mahalaya celebrations at Candor’s campus in New Town-Rajarhat, Kolkata on 1st October 2019 brought with it feelings of positivity, festivity and warmth ahead of the Durga Puja celebrations. The campus premises were decked up with vibrant, festive-themed decor comprising cut-outs, festoons and lights. A stage was set up in the campus for special performances and acts scheduled for the occasion.
Campus employees, dressed in their very best, lined up in droves for the celebrations. There were a series of engagement activities and games planned for the day. Different contests such as solo and group competitions of the traditional dhunuchi dance (which involves people dancing while holding a curved earthen pot filled with burning coal, coconut husk and incense) and a maha antakshari were organised for employees of different corporate organisations to participate in and showcase their talent. It was a delight to watch the attendees participate in all of these while having fun and interacting with each other in an out-of-office environment.
Exciting performances onstage such as Shadow Act, Tron Act and a performance by a leading dance troupe were the other highlights of the day. The attendees got to groove to catchy music belted out by a DJ specially invited for the occasion. Candor also hosted a variety of food stalls to offer the attendees curated F&B options.
