Get Set, Ride!

They say that cycling is good for health. If there is something that is holding you back from this sport, the sheer joy that these riders experienced while participating in the third season of Green Wheels Bike Festival, which was presented by Candor TechSpace, is sure to change your mind and have you hopping on a bike in no time.

Did you know that riding bikes is great for your physical health? It reduces body fat, improves cardiovascular fitness and blood circulation, and builds strength. While some people ride to get fit, there are many who ride bikes simply because it makes them happy, and riders from both of these categories were the participants in the third season of the famous Green Wheels Bike Festival. Presented by Candor TechSpace, the festival was organised at Ambience Island in Gurugram on 4th February 2018.

Candor TechSpace partnered with Green Wheels Bike Festival with the objective of providing the occupiers and their employees of its campuses the opportunity to improve their health via cycling. Alok Aggarwal, MD and CEO, Candor India Office Parks Private Limited, says, “At Candor TechSpace, we strive to create a conducive, healthy and happy environment for our occupiers and their employees at our campuses. Our association with Green Wheels Bike Festival is an extension of our philosophy of adding life to the day-to-day existence of our associates and partners.”

Exclusive registration desks were set up at Candor’s campuses in Gurugram and Noida for employees looking to sign up for the festival. These campuses hosted a bike station for five days and conducted cycling engagement activities such as pre-event workshops with Gautam Verma, Founder, SpinLife India, which is a community for fitness and cycling enthusiasts. Additionally, event photo ops were installed at the campuses for 10-15 days. The festival received a great response from riders who lined up in droves to participate in it. Alok Aggarwal says, “We are overwhelmed with the participation from corporates, families and children from NCR [National Capital Region]. We salute their spirit, and also hope that the message of fitness as a key aspect of one’s well-being resonates among more and more people and that they make cycling a part of their lifestyle.”

The best part of Green Wheels Bike Festival was that it was open to not just skilled bikers but also enthusiasts and basically anyone who enjoyed their time on a cycle! The festival’s ride leaders were there to assist riders with limited cycling experience. Bike rental facility was available for any participant who did not own a bike but wanted to ride to glory in the festival.

The festival had competitive rides such as ‘Cyclo-Circuit Pro’, a closed loop race; ‘Green Wheels Honcho Corporate Team Relay’, a curated relay for corporates coming from Candor’s campuses in Gurugram and Noida; and ‘CEO Ride’, an invite-only ride for Candor’s guests. There were non-competitive rides too, such as ‘Green Wheel Riders’ and ‘Her Ride’, a dedicated all-woman ride which was flagged off by Shantanu Chakraborty, Head – BD, Client Relationship and Branding, Candor India Office Parks Private Limited.

Not just adults, the festival also allowed children with high levels of energy to participate, by organising a Junior Duathlon which combined running and cycling. What made this race all the more fun was that parents too were allowed to select the fun ride and participate along with their children.

While the cycling itself made it a fun and healthy day out for everyone involved, there was also food, music and other activities that contributed to the overall excitement during the third season of Green Wheels Bike Festival.
