Congratulations, Class of 2018!

Candor partnered with The Nudge Foundation to start the Delhi-NCR Gurukul, where, after the completion of a year at their Bengaluru Gurukul, 180 youth were trained and given job placements last year. The graduation ceremony for the Delhi-NCR inaugural batch of students was held in November 2018.

Candor TechSpace in association with The Nudge Foundation, a non-profit organisation that works toward sustainable poverty alleviation at scale, held a graduation ceremony for students from its inaugural batch of the Delhi-NCR Gurukul. On 23rd November 2018 at Candor’s campus in Sector 48, Gurugram, 40 students (26 trained for BPO jobs and 14 for electrician jobs) graduated after successfully completing the 90-day residential programme.

The Gurukul, supported by Candor, started its operations at Delhi in September 2018 with the aim of helping and enabling youth from underprivileged communities to come out of poverty. Here, students in the age group of 18- 25 years are taught numeracy, digital literacy, life skills and a job skill. Placements happen at the end of the course. Thus, the Gurukul not only educates underprivileged youth on every front but also provides them with a job at the end of their training programme and a lifelong support system for every hurdle that life throws their way.

The graduation ceremony, conducted at the end of the residential programme, marked a new phase of life for the graduating students. It is a phase that is meant to last, thanks to the skills they have picked up while studying the strong 360-degree curriculum imparted at the Gurukul. It was wonderful to see the students visibly excited as they geared up in their graduation robes to experience the pomp, joy and pride that mark one of the most memorable times in a student’s life.

The ceremony began with a students’ graduation walk. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem, an analysis of the batch’s performance with the help of key data collated by the Gurukul team and a showcase of students’ life stories. A panel discussion was also organised on this occasion and post this, students took the Gurukul pledge. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates among students.
